7480 T2 modules later … it’s time to say goodbye to a 2 year old POS

by on Aug.13, 2011, under Corporation, POS

POS going down

Long time associates who have been providing blueprint research & copy services have decided to call it quits after 2+ years. It was founded on 2009.05.04 on the back of several dramas as we moved from Providence to Outer Ring.

A few of us recruited some junior researchers and till now have at least 5 active researchers constantly seeking to provide us with copies for T2 invention. With 27 T2 batch runs completed, this has contributed to 7480 T2 modules (62 unique items), 20 T2 ships, 580 T2 drones and a quite a few ammo for pew pew.

The POS was named “Unknown System J100145” after the wormhole system which I spent a fair amount of time while exploring the new phenomenon.

POS going down

With the researchers slowly spending less and less time on the work at hand, running the POS (a Shadow Control Tower) at almost 265mil/30 days in POS fuel costs is slowly grinding away the wallet.

Should I create another smaller POS?

30 x research agents (Core Complexion, CreoDron, Duvolle, Roden, Lai Dai)
30 x manufacturing slots (with 10 more to come)
40 x research/copy/invent slots

POS going down

One can do a lot with this resources.

Dropping roles takes 24 hours

by on Jun.06, 2009, under Corporation, EVE Online

I’m now part of “The Scope”, a small sized corporation with global extent. The new corp chat shows 258 present but I’m just another person joining the ranks. Finally took the plunge to drop from TGIND as I’m not able to devote the energy and time necessary to get things working again. There are many things to fix and I wish Page well in rebuilding the corp.

Since I had roles, the action of dropping roles actually requires a 24 hour standby period. Interestingly Nova got war dec’d by OuterRim Jobs and fighting could legally start before I could quit so I helped out by talking to locater agents to find the “scumbugs” who declared war on us. Level 4 locator agents allow you to query a person on his whereabouts. Within 10 minutes, an evemail is sent indicating their location. There is a 15minutes interval before you can use them again so its worth going to a region where you can use a few locator agents at one time. Eve-agents.com has a great database of all possible agents you can work with.

The sleazebag is currently at Nourvukaiken II – Moon 1 – Modern Finances Investment Bank station in the Nourvukaiken system, Okela constellation of Lonetrek region.

Mica has already moved to the forward base and I heard he had an interesting encounter but he’ll also be moving on after the war dec. Hope we get back to 0.0 soon.

Another change, perhaps its time to move on

by on Jun.03, 2009, under Corporation, EVE Online

With another recent change in management and the lack of plans and activity, it seems that it might be time to move on to something else. I’ve tried my best and suggested stuff we could embark but the progress is non-existent. TGIND has a bunch of great folks and I wish them well.

Directed Mica to make a formal application to a PvP corp and hope to hear news soon. After 47 days in Empire, 0.0 beckons again.

Your Corporation Matters

by on May.28, 2009, under Corporation

Most capsuleers in EVE move on to a player run corporation one day (even if most choose to stay in NPC Corps for its safety net) since that is where the fun begins (drama, intrigue and espionage!). The key thing to a well run corp are the members who choose to be active. In the past year, TGIND has seen relatively good growth. However for the last few months recruitment has slacked (mainly as only 1 person was interested). With this current stint back in Empire, it seems we need to reform and rethink our goals and strategy.

Corporate Structure by you.

The above shows a simplified view of how members can be organized to be more productive and actually have some fun while we focus on getting back in 0.0.

Example of teams and their goals:

Production
Every Month

  • Produce 30 x Ships (T1 and T2)
  • Produce 2000 x T2 modules
  • Maintain 2 bil worth mineral store to facilitate production

Security

  • Run Lvl 4 Missions as a group twice a week
  • Run Exploration Complex (Scanning and Clearing site hand in hand)
  • Run a 0.0 Roam Every Weekend with the aim of practicing FC’g and tactics.

Human Resources

  • Recruitment Campaigns once a week in different Regions
  • During off-hours can choose to be part of Security or Production
  • Recommend recruits and train them to be effective in the teams they will be joining. This includes skillbooks, training plans, ships after they are certified.

More Places Visited

by on May.28, 2009, under Corporation, EVE Online

Here’s a slightly different version than Jar’s boring places visited post

I’m about 11 months young and have seen a lot more action that the boring mining and production that Jar is so fond of. As a military man, the thrill of undocking and getting in a good fleet is what I look forward to.

2009.05.27.17.15.52 - New Eden - Mica by you.

Most of the places I’ve visited, Jar will probably never visit as they were during fleet roams. As you can see though, New Eden is huge and there is still a lot to cover.

2009.05.27.17.16.05 - New Eden Detail - Mica by you.

The time in Sylph Alliance saw some nice roams to Derilik, Curse and Stain with Providence and Catch being the active defence areas. Some very memorable fights were in F9E-KX (first Double Doomsday!), HED-GP and ERVK-P with Ushra’Khan and Against All Authorities (when i see –A-, I’m glad I insured my ship). There was also a Scrapheap Drake fleet that attempted to mess around with Providence and got sent home (not very accurate picture as there was a lot more kills/losses).

After we left to form Nova Invicta, an attempt was made to settle in the Outer Ring (lots of production folks were excited coz that’s where the exhumer BPOs are sold). Unfortunately, after a few days (now fruitless) of making tactical bookmarks, we were told to pull out due the to increasing conflict between Dead Man’s Hands (allies) and Avarice. This very short lived adventure marked the visit to Syndicate and Outer Ring.

The quick trip to Pure Blind just last weekend with Agony Unleashed’s PvP Basic class saw quite a bit of T1 mayhem. Over 70 in fleet with some insane ewar setup saw a hostile casualty list of 5 Battleships, 1 Battlecruiser, 1 Assault Frigate, 1 Covert Ops, 4 Heavy Assault, 1 Recon, 2 POS Modules and 4 Pods. The jump gate bug didn’t help much for travelling but I look forward to a longer roam during the Wolfpacks class in a few days (will write a complete account of the two classes after Wolfpacks).

What’s next? 0.0 beckons and hopefully we are able to resolve some corporate and alliance matters so that we can make a move back. I’m not too fond of running missions and be at the beck and call of agents in Empire. There’s currently lots of hotspots with Querious and Etherium Reach seeing lots of action so hopefully we’ll find something there :)

The Places I’ve Been

by on May.28, 2009, under Corporation, EVE Online

Kirith Kodachi started a new meme asking people where they have been in New Eden.

Here’s my journey (not terribly exciting as I’m heavily into mining and production)

2009.05.27.17.05.24 - New Eden - Jar by you.

I’m just slighly over 1 year in game and as you can see, having only been with TGIND has somewhat limited where I’ve travelled. Most of my purchasing work is outsourced to associates who almost never travel beyond the market hubs and thus I seldom need to travel to the crowded Jita area. In fact, only time I’ve been to Jita was during early days when we were war dec’d and we were advised to relocate to a safer system in The Forge.

2009.05.27.17.24.50 - New Eden Detail - Jar by you.

In terms of corporate history, Gallente space is our primary area of operation and during the time with Sylph Alliance, Providence and Catch regions was mostly where we saw action. ERVK-P is probably my favorite station to spin ships while Mica is out having fun :)

What’s Next? The alliance is currently mulling over prospects and hopefully some decisions will be made soon about 0.0. It’s been some time since we left 0.0 and a disastrous attempt to move back in the Outer Ring with Dead Man’s Hand saw us getting caught in a crossfire with Avarice and a bunch of other hostiles. Mica had more experience there as I chose to stay in Empire to revisit some agents. I would also like to visit the Minmatar area to get in touch with some agents just to have a change of environment.

* Understanding the map : Small yellow means few number of visits to big red means LOTs of visits.

OOC – For some of us, EVE is more fun with spreadsheets

by on May.24, 2009, under Corporation

Dilbert.com

My new CEO just showed me a link to Dilbert’s comic strip about spreadsheets which instantly made us laugh. In my corp, a few of us run and plan production by our spreadsheets. From budgeting to sharing jobs between corp members, Google Spreadsheets is our savior with all the different time zones. We have spreadsheets for ore/ice mining, Capital/T2 production, POS setups etc and he said the above comic illustrated exactly how he felt :)

Medals and a change in management

by on May.20, 2009, under Corporation, EVE Online

TGIND - Medal - The Wedlock Trap by you.

Marriage, the union of 2 souls. Our new CEO awarded the “The Wedlock Trap” medal to our outgoing CEO as he’s getting hitched. Note the white flag, a rather clever use of the decorations feature recently implemented.

Alliance updates and thoughts

by on Apr.15, 2009, under Alliance, Corporation, EVE Online

Today, TGIND is a part of a new alliance Nova Invicta Legion. Since I have experience in the matter, I helped to get basic tools like a website, forums and killboard setup. There was lots of discussions surrounding the decisions to leave Sylph Alliance but ultimately politics won and we are now back in Empire looking for a new home in 0.0.

Eight months ago, we left Empire to head into 0.0 with the hopes of leaving Empire wardec griefers behind and establish a new path for the corporation. Back then, we were inexperienced and just starting out. 0.0 with its wonders and danger beckoned and while most didn’t survive the experience, from burning out to moving back to empire quickly, some of us did enjoy the stay and managed to thrive on the experience.

In a relatively short time frame, we established corporation mineral programs to help miners and producers create a thriving production line for PvP folks. A capital ship program was also introduced with investments coming from members that allowed us to supply much needed capital ships to the alliance at a reasonable cost. I also personally managed to run a Top Killers PvP competition for the corp to encourage people to fleet up with prizes ranging from battleships to cruisers.

NRDS has certainly been an interesting experience and while I will probably never get used to seeing neutrals free floating through (they could be a spy, bait or simply really neutral), I do admire the fact that the alliances in Providence and Northen Catch have managed to uphold it for so long.

While I’m sad that we’ll be leaving 0.0 so soon after many good changes were taking place in Sylph, it’s also time to get back in touch with Empire life and create some opportunities to provide a better income for PvP in the future.

With this change, I’ll be re-establishing my old empire mining and mission bases. Janitors and exotic dancers have once again been hired with some mercenaries engaged for good measure. I’ll need to talk to agents again to get missions and get some action on the veldspar mining that seems so profitable these days.

Creating a shop front for TGIND

by on Mar.24, 2009, under Corporation, Manufacturing

Since we recently started a T2 product line, I thought it might be useful to collate all the products/services our corporation is providing. Thus shop.tgind.net is born. In-game friendly in its current state, I hope to add in a customer order system and work order program for our capital production line instead of relying on our internal wiki.

shop.tgind.net by you.
